The Trung Luong – My Thuan Expressway is 51 km long, running through five districts of Tien Giang Province, helping to ease congestion on National Highway 1A. The starting point of the expressway is the Than Cuu Nghia Interchange in Chau Thanh District, Tien Giang Province. This is one of the key arterial routes connecting the Southwestern region with Ho Chi Minh City. The project initially had a total investment of more than VND 14,000 billion and was scheduled for completion in 2013 but was delayed; it was later adjusted to more than VND 12,000 billion.

The Trung Luong – My Thuan Expressway connects with the Ho Chi Minh City – Trung Luong Expressway at the Than Cuu Nghia Interchange. Infrastructure at the most important interchange of the project has basically been completed, while several items such as the lighting system and traffic signals are being prepared for installation.

According to the investor, the project has reached 85% of its total workload, ensuring technical opening to traffic on November 30. It is expected to serve travel demand during the Lunar New Year 2022.

So far, 41 out of 51 km of the road surface have been asphalted, with the remaining 10 km scattered across Cai Lay Town and Cai Be District.

The contractor has mobilized a large number of machines and workers to asphalt the expressway section passing through Cai Lay Town.

At the same time, teams of workers are installing guardrails, barriers, and traffic signs along both sides of the expressway.

Workers are focusing on installing the median separating the two traffic directions of the expressway.
Leaders of Trung Luong – My Thuan BOT Joint Stock Company, the project developer, said that nearly 1,500 managers, engineers, and workers have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, reaching over 95% to ensure safety.

Along the entire expressway, 39 bridges have basically been completed. Contractors are finalizing ancillary items in the coming days.

Once completed, the expressway will shorten travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region, while also helping to ease congestion on National Highway 1.
